The Winning Youth Foundation’s main objectives are on adopting schools from rural and disadvantaged areas, to empower learners with skills, career guidance and provision of social needs. WYF is dedicated to empowering learners with skills and values that will help them meet the requirements of university and perform well in their studies. In addition, the organisation aim is to build a group of Alumni from rural areas, who will give back and continue building these areas to be the best.
The foundation was Kufakwezwe Secondary school in April 2017, in Bushbuckridge. Dr Silinda selected this school because most of the learners are from low socio-economic backgrounds with most learners coming from child headed households.
To date the foundation is working with five schools in Bushbuckridge. Learners from these schools were also supported with mentorship, career guidance programmes and extra lessons. The foundation also hosted a Career Expo that was a success in July 2017.
